Read more nter so haven't needed to use it on anything like full power, but I get the feeling it will cope fine, and much better than the open fire or log burner, (which was enclosed in the fireplace) both for heat and convenience. We haven't had really cold weather so far this wi. The bedrooms and sun room much less so, but you can feel the difference, it takes the chill of the air. The 10 x 4.5 area gets nice and cosy very quickly, without the heater being on anything like full power.

I have nothing to compare it against other than electric fires, open fire, or small log burner, that we used previously, We use the Rinnai to heat an area of 10 x 4.5 metres plus a small sun room and kitchen, while leaving the doors open to the hallway and 2 bedrooms and kitchen. Purchased in June 2021 at Gas works for $2,300. I`d be happy to have unit thrown in bin but now I have a hole in wall and brick work to accommodate the flue. Rang repairer back to have unit looked at but up to now nobody has made contact with me. Rinnai America Corporation of Peachtree City, GA is recalling their Direct-Vent Wall Furnace models RHFE 431 and RHFE 556 due to a carbon monoxide poisoning. They are either natural gas or LP gas (propane) fueled. Well that is not the case, new unit has exactly the same faults. You beauty I thought as the technician stated. Guru suggested to swap out a certain part which technician did ( after some time without a heater in very cold part of year ). Called technician back who then videoed unit in start up then sent to a Rinnai guru in Sydney. When the unit is turned on everything comes on - as it should be - and it works fine until it reaches the temperature (sometimes even 20 minutes) once the temperature is reached and it tries to ignite for the 2nd time the flame kicks in for 5 seconds and then I have the 'flame failure'. Had technician come in who tried different things but still the same. Well stupid me, rumbling on start up bad smell then shutting down with error code.
